  10. DEMO instructions

  12. - Demo limitation:
  13. This demo contains 16 DEMO instruments with limited note range. The DEMO
  14. polyphony is limited to 16 notes. In the XL folder it's contained a list of all
  15. the 450 instruments available in SampleTank XL.

  17. -System Requirements
  18. Macintosh(r):
  19. Minimal: PPC604 200MHz with MacOS 8.5 or later system software, 64 MB RAM.
  20. Screen settings: 640x480, thousands of colors, 240 MB of free hard disk space.
  21. Suggested: Power Macintosh(r) G3/G4 with 128MB  RAM, 2GB of free hard disk
  22. space. ASIO card is recommended for low latency realtime play.

  24. Windows(r):
  25. Minimal: Intel(r) Pentium(r) 200 MHz MMX(tm) with Windows(r) 95, Windows(r) 98,
  26. Winsows(r) ME, Windows(r) NT(tm) 4.0, Windows(r) 2000, 64 MB RAM and
  27. high-quality sound card. Screen settings: 800x600, high colors (16 bit), 240 MB
  28. of free hard disk space. Suggested: Intel(r) Pentium(r) III 500 MHz with 128MB 
  29. RAM, 2GB of free hard disk space. ASIO card is recommended for low latency
  30. realtime play.  Optimized for Pentium(r) III.

  32. MIDI sequencer:
  33. To use Sampletank you need Cubase(tm), Logic(tm) Audio(tm) or any other
  34. Macintosh(r) or Windows(r) sequencer compatible with VST(tm) instruments
  35. (Cubase(tm)  PC version  3.7.2 or Mac version 4.1.1, or later, Logic(tm) Audio
  36. PC and Mac version 4.5, or later).

  38. -Installation
  39. The installer tries to locate your VstPlugIns default folder in your system and
  40. asks you to confirm the location where to install Sampletank. You could choose
  41. to install it into the default folder for VST instruments in Cubase(tm) or, if
  42. you wish, you could specify a different location. Remember that as a plugin,
  43. Sampletank has to be installed in a VstPlugIns folder or it wouldn't work. In
  44. the destination folder will be created a new folder called IK Multimedia, into
  45. this folder you will find the Sampletank plugin itself and the Sampletank
  46. Instruments folder containing all the DEMO instruments, grouped by category. The
  47. installation will then be complete.

  49. - Opening Sampletank in Cubase(tm)
  50. Launch Cubase(tm). Open the 'Panels' menu and select 'VST Instruments'. This
  51. will display the VST Instruments interface. Click on the 'No VST Instrument'
  52. text. A pop-up menu will show all available instruments. Move the selection over
  53. 'IK Multimedia' and click on the sub-menu 'Sampletank'. Switch the instrument on
  54. by clicking on the dull red button. The button will light up. Now click on the
  55. 'Edit' button. Sampletank will be launched.

  57. - Opening Sampletank in Logic(tm) Audio
  58. Launch Logic(tm) Audio. If you already utilize 'AudioInst' channels in
  59. Logic(tm), just load Sampletank as one of those instruments. Otherwise create a
  60. new audio object in the Logic(tm) Audio envinronment. Set the output channel as
  61. Instrument 1. On this channel (in the mixer window) load Sampletank as a plug-in
  62. in the first 'insert' slot. Double-click on the plug-in slot (blue) and
  63. Sampletank will be launched.

  65. - Loading and playing instruments
  66. Before loading an instrument, select the MIDI channel where you want to place
  67. it. You have all 16 channels at your disposal (for each of the VST(tm)
  68. instruments opened). You select a MIDI channel by clicking on the 1-16 MIDI
  69. buttons on the SampleTank interface. Once you have a channel ready, double-click
  70. on an instrument name to load it in the channel. To the same effect you can
  71. select an instrument and press the 'Load' button. Notice that the led right
  72. under the channel button, called the 'Status' led, will turn yellow while the
  73. instrument is loading, and will stay green when it's ready to be played.

  75. The instrument name, as well as a generic description of the available
  76. instrument knobs, will appear in the left side of the interface. One or more
  77. pre-defined effects will be loaded and displayed in the effects interface on the
  78. right. More information on each single instrument is available by pressing the
  79. 'Info' button.

  81. You can now play the instrument using a master keyboard connected to the
  82. sequencer or using a MIDI sequence in the track. MIDI activity in the channels
  83. is indicated by the red led, called the 'MIDI' led, above each of the channel
  84. buttons.

  86. To load another instrument in the same channel, just double-click  (or  select
  87. and load) a new instrument  in the list. To change to a different channel, press
  88. its MIDI button. To empty a channel, press the 'Empty' button. The Status and
  89. MIDI leds will immediately blank out.
